Lessons in light

I started this gallery so that I can keep track of what I am trying to learn about off camera flash. I am uploading these right from LR with only very minor adjustments in exposure and cropping so I can compare what I am doing with the flash. I have described my setup in the caption. Unless otherwise noted, all flash settings are in manual, not ETTL. Unless noted, there has been no processing in photoshop.

  • Going for the "Rembrandt" effect. Hard to do by yourself and with a dog as you really can't just say, turn your head to the left just a bit and tip your nose down :-) I used the Apollo Orb to one side and and another flash shooting into a zebra weave reflector on the other side.

  • having two speedlites works much better with Flint because he is so dark. This lighting is almost too even don't you think?

  • I didn't crop the reflector out of this one. The single flash is in the apollo orb - also just out of the picture's edge to the right.
